Description: From Library Journal
This book compares favorably, both in content and arrangement, to Marda Woodbury's A Guide to Sources of Educational Information (1976; Information Resources Pr., 1982. 2d ed.) and is therefore enthusiastically recommended. Of the book's 20 chapters, the first few list general reference sources in education and related social science disciplines. The bulk of the chapters treat specific aspects of education, ranging from educational administration to feminist education. The final two chapters include information on education periodicals and research centers. A total of 900 titles is included, most published since 1980. The annotations are adequate and often give solid criticism. There is also material relating to online database searching, although more recent CD-ROM technology is not addressed. Though there are some conspicuous omissions, e.g., Higher Education Abstracts , these are relatively few and do not constitute a strategic flaw. Perhaps a more detailed introduction would have explained some of the selection choices. Overall, a welcome addition to the research literature in education.
