Beginning with historical overviews of American education and school libraries, Woolls fills her third edition of this manual with practical advice and information. Although written primarily for school library media students and the newly certified SLMS, the book offers gems that the veteran librarian will find useful. These include information on cooperating with public libraries, supervising media center staff, planning a new facility, remodeling or moving a library, and budgeting. Each chapter includes notes and exercises, and many chapters also have bulleted lists and diagrams or sample forms. The several appendixes include materials on applying for a job and certification, long-range planning, a sample intellectual freedom policy, and professional publications (though this is marred by incorrect information). The addition of a glossary and a bibliography with relevant books, Web sites, and videos would have been helpful. Rochelle Glantz
