Encryption Algorithms

PrimaSoft Strong File Encryption / Decryption supports the following encryption algorithms:

AES/Rijndael

AES (US Advanced Encryption Standard) secret key encryption algorithm known as Rijndael. Certified by National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST). AES is the new official US government standard for encryption of data.

  • Developed by Joan Daemen and Vincent Rijmen.
  • Method symmetrical block cipher encryption algorithm.
  • It uses 128 or 256-bit keys.

Twofish

Twofish encryption algorithm, a runner-up candidate for AES.

  • Developed by Bruce Schneier, is a successor to the Blowfish algorithm.
  • Method symmetrical block cipher encryption algorithm.
  • It uses 128 or 256-bit keys.

RSA

RSA encryption is a public-key encryption algorithm.

  • Method based on the RSAES-OAEP scheme RSA Encryption Scheme - Optimal Asymmetric Encryption Padding. It is the encryption scheme recommended by RSA Security.
  • It uses 1024, 2048-bit keys.

Public-key encryption is an encryption technique that uses a pair of keys. Files encrypted with one key can only be decrypted by the other key. The Public key is distributed to parties that are going to encrypt files. Files encrypted with the Public key can only be decrypted by the holder of the Private key.
