About the Author
Marl B. Davidson is celebrating her 10th anniversary in 1997 as owner of Marl and B (formerly Marl and Barbie), one of the largest Barbie doll dealerships in the world. Born in Providence, RI, Marl grew up in Springfield, MA and
worked a variety of jobs ranging from public relations to being one of the first female supply engineers in the computer business. In 1977 she began a Madame Alexander Collection for her daughter, Kimee, which sparked her love for dolls. However, her
"dealing days" didn't begin until 1984 with the universal Cabbage Patch craze. This is when Marl put together her first mail order list and from there she found many of the BARBIE contacts and customers she still has today. Marl has appeared on The
Donahue Show, Amazing Stories, Discovery, Entertainment Tonight, MTV Europe, and has been interviewed by innumerable publications worldwide. She has written articles for such publications as Collecting Figures, Millers Market Report, and Doll Reader and
has been consulted as price editor for numerous BARBIE Doll publications. Together with Joe Blitman she co-produces 15 all- BARBIE doll shows and sales all over the country. A formidable BARBIE expert, gourmet cook, and world traveler, Marl currently
lives in Bradenton, FL in "the house that BARBIE built," with her husband Dale and talking dog Sasee. She has two children-Scott, an independent artist, and Kimee, a production assistant-who both currently live in New York City. She has one grandson,
Joel, who enjoys playing hockey.
Marl is able to manage her growing business and still spend time with her family by making sure that everyone regularly attends her BARBIE Doll shows in their area. This allows the family to work together and
maintain close contact with one another. Marl truly means it when she says, "BARBIE brings us together!"
