Ohlrich's arguments for flexible access and flexible literacy lessons will encourage librarians and administrators to take a careful look at school library use. The author supports her opinions on why this type of scheduling works best for students and the school community with study results and statistics, and outlines ways to plan and implement such programs. It is interesting to note that her list of the primary reasons why schools do not incorporate this type of arrangement does not make mention of the fact that library media specialists often must cover for planning periods for classroom teachers. While the benefits of flexible access are carefully outlined, information on the important topic of collaboration/planning with teachers, and acquiring administrative support is somewhat limited. Charts, a few simple illustrations, and examples of schedules are included. Unfortunately the density of type and the font size do not enhance the reading experience.
