A retirement community wants to upgrade library software.

We recently purchased a new computer which runs Windows 10. This is the computer we plan to use for any new library program we purchase. Our data (library Items and patrons) have all been entered manually from the very beginning. We have approximately 5000 books and a few hundred DVDs, plus 6 Kindles.
You say you offer free transfer from Pro to Handy. How would you do this if Pro is on one computer and Handy is going to be on another computer? Our data have not been converted to MARC format, but it has been saved as an Excel document in the event we need to use that for any data transfer.

We process the transfer. This topic explains how to restore library backup data with Handy Library Manager.
We use the transfer procedure that is included in the Handy Library package.
We processed many transfers, it takes less time for us to review the original backup files, set options, and process the transfer.

We are a very large community and patrons can go to any library. We have one library in our independent/retirement part of the community, one small one in assisted living and another very small one in another area. The residents would like to have all the books in one searchable computer format. Each area would be responsible for inputting their new books and tracking what has been taken out, but let's say someone in Assisted Living looks on their personal computer for a specific book we would want the location (library) where the book is.

... I am a computer volunteer at my retirement CCRC. We are thinking about replacing our vintage FileMaker Pro ver. 9 home-made library "app" with something newer and with more capabilities in 1 to 2 years. We have about 3400 books plus maybe 300 DVDs and audio CDs.
Can Handy import data from a FileMakerPro data file?
... I've looked around on the web a bit and your program looks like it could handle all our needs including some we have not even thought of yet! I do not see anything so far on your site about how easy or difficult it might be to import our data file from FileMaker 9 into your Handy. Naturally, I would rather avoid one or more intermediate file types like CSV if possible, where information would likely be partly lost.
... Our computer is not connected to the internet in any way, but I imagine the next one will be. I would look forward to that since much of what we want in a catalog could come from web sources.

We process free library data transfers.
If you send your file to us, we can move it quickly to Handy Library Manager. You can catalog all types of items in our application: books, DVDs, CDs, or equipment.
With the Internet connection, your librarians can quickly enter new books from the web (auto-cataloging feature by ISBN).
