How can Handy Equipment/Tool Manager be used to track missing and lost items? (v4.4 or up)
Handy Equipment/Tool Manager software, version 4.4 or up, supports the new "missing items" feature. We added this feature in response to several user requests.
With the "missing items" feature, you can mark your equipment and tool items as missing in various software parts. This feature comes in handy when a borrower cannot locate an item but is unsure if it is lost. In such cases, you can set the "is missing" status in the check-in window. Later, you can quickly review them using the "missing from" date and move them to the lost table.
Managing missing and lost items in the equipment and tool storage facility is explained in detail in the Help section of our Handy Library Manager application:
Important information:
- When an item is marked as MISSING, the program will set two values: the IS_MISSING status will be set to "Y" and the MISSING_FROM value will be set to the current date.
- Any associated loan transactions will be deleted when an item is moved to the ITEMS LOST table.
- The borrower will be assessed a damaged item fine according to Fine Options.
Equipment and Tool Inventory
When an item is marked as MISSING, the program will set two values:

- MISSING_FROM value will be set to the current date
You can choose and process the missing items.
Check In, Check Out Transaction Window
If borrower returns an item and informs the facility manager that one of the items is missing, there is an easy way to mark the item as missing in the check-in/out window.
Manage Loans Window
In addition to managing overdue items, the Manage Loans window includes new missing features. This feature lets you process missing or lost items in bulk.
