What library system does a family resource center need? product: Handy Library Manager
I am trying to make our library digital with the use of a library software program, bar code scanner and iPad for families to check in and check out themselves. Which system would be best for us? We have a small collection of books and toys that we want to upload as a catalog.

We are sorry, our library system for Windows PC computers. It cannot be installed on iPads, Apple computers.

Subject: What library software do I need?
title: What library software do I need?
system: Windows 10
product: Handy Library Manager
I run a small library in my senior cooperative building. I would like to create a list of our collection with descriptions and categories. A simple user operated checkout system is what I would like. Using the UPC or a printed attached label with a laptop camera for scanning. Check in would be done by a volunteer librarian. Identification of the person checking out a book would be a 3 digit number that they would hand enter. What application should I look at?

Handy Library Manager is a very good choice. Many similar libraries decided to implement our solution. (reviews)
Our system supports all kinds of reports. You can print any list report from our software.
Our system provides simple check in/out module. You can use barcode scanner, enter numbers manually, or select items/borrowers from the list.
I am not sure if the laptop camera is a practical tool for processing check in/out transaction. Laptop camera is not a good tool for scanning barcode labels, it creates errors, and it needs an application that converts regular image to a barcode representation and extracts the number. Barcode scanners are specialized/optimized "cameras" that read image represented by parallel lines and gaps and convert this in a fast and efficient way. Basic barcode scanners are very cheap, you can purchase a barcode scanner for about $30. We compiled the list from Amazon: library supplies.

We are a retirement community with limited needs for the library. We want to keep track of our books and, eventually make the the list searchable by the users without losing data, thus, read only. We are now using Book Collectorz, version 19 in Windows 10. The license runs out soon and we are exploring other options. Can you give me some idea of the cost of Organizer Advantage as we must plan ahead for such expenses.

Organizer Advantage, the price depends on the license, the higher the license level the more features are supported. The book inventory management will be supported by the lowest level, the cost is only ($75), this license does not support database viewer and multiple users, all features are supported starting from Business Premium ($245). The above prices are introductory and include discount. Organizer Advantage, the new product will support all your data management requirements, it will not limit you to book inventory, the product will let you organize any data.
