Need to update school library software.

We are operating a private school library with approximately 7000 books on the L4U library software program. It appears we have not updated the software since 2006 or so, and thus we are experiencing many run time errors and the program locking up on us. Our IT guy has suggested that we probably need to update our software. L4U is currently obsolete with no support as of October 2018. I have look at the Handy Libary information here, and it appears that this may be similar to what we are using in features. We do have bar codes in all of our books, manually input all acquisitions, and manually input clients. The search feature has not been fully utilized on our L4U program. However, we would like to have this option with a new software, that maybe we can download subject info for new arrivals? We really do not wish to have to be online to run the program on a daily basis, but would be able to log on to the web periodically to access the OPAC info. system: Windows XP

Many small school libraries are satisfied with our product, I suggest to download and try our software.
If you have your data in a spreadsheet or MARC file format you can send the file to us and we will try to review/transfer your data.
If you transfer barcode numbers into the handy BARCODE data field you will be ready to process check in out transactions, search by BARCODE, or print barcode labels.
Our program supports auto cataloging from the web (ISBN) and manual entries.
Program supports two search modules, desktop search, or web search. The web search is supported if you install the software on your Windows Web Server computer.

Network vs. School option
system: Windows 10
product: Handy Library Manager
I am the librarian at a small private school. We have around 9,000 titles in our library. Our old library management system is outdated, and we have downloaded the free trial of Handy Library Manager to see if it would be a good fit. The purchase options are not explained well. Can you please tell me the difference between the School option and the Network option? It would be nice to run the program on our school network . . . is that possible with the school option? We have titles in marc record format from the old system, and when we have tried moving samples of them, some strange characters are appearing in the Title field. We appreciate your offer of assistance with transferring those.

School license means that the software can be used on the school network system (server + clients), and/or other computers (teacher/class computers). School license includes discount for non-profit institutions.
Do you have your data in spreadsheet, text file delimited, or marc format. You can send the file to us and we will try to transfer your data into our program. This is free service.

We are looking for software for a small library of 15,000 books. We can export our data from the old system to MARC or spreadsheet. Are you able to put that into your library software you have so we don't have to re-catalog everything?
Library: k12 library school; system: Windows 10; product: Handy Library Manager

You can send the file to us and we will try to transfer your data into our program. This is free service.

We run a small school libraries with 6000 books, split in two building Primary and Secondary. Which software would work better for us as we have around 500 students total and we would need to create a patron for each of them. We use and old software BOOKCat..

Handy Library for Windows is a very good choice. We offer a discount for the network license that let you install Handy on multiple computers or a school network. You can organize your libraries for only $345 + $200, + support (optional). In your case I would suggest to have two installations and run separate libraries: Primary Library, Secondary Library.

Using AR info in search by genre, Windows 7
I've scoured your website and like what I see but there are 3 reasons for replacing my current Winnebago Spectrum library software:
1) Ability to send emails for overdues? (Handy, yes)
2) Ability to search for materials, say by "Historical Fiction" and have results list AR info on screen? (Handy, I haven't found anything to support this search)
3) Ability to include student's ZPD (reading level) in profile and limit book checkouts to books with AR level in that ZPD? (doesn't look like Handy does this but of the 3 items I can live without this one)
Also, I had a couple older computers donated to me that have Windows 7 on them. Would it be recommended to upgrade to Windows 10 before downloading Handy?

2) Handy Library Search: Handy Library can display any entered information. If you entered AR information then all found records will display AR data (include the field that represents AR data on the grid).
Library Search Module: The program offers search module, in the search module what is displayed in the search results is defined in the setup files. Library search setup file
3. Handy does not calculate the Reading Level, but if the Reading Level is entered into the student record (manually) then you can set the loan rule by this field: library loan options.
