What software do I need for may school library.

What software would you recommend for a small preschool with around 2,500 books? Needs: Catalog - Barcode; Simple check out system for teachers only (around 25 teachers)- no students. So that we know who has the book in case another teacher needs it. Easy look- up. by title, author and catagory. No need for anything else inserted.
Is this software capable of having two data bases - one for library books and another one that is for checkout for toys.
If I put it on one computer and need to switch to another......will this be hard to do

You can easily add book information with ISBN auto-catalog feature. Barcode labels and barcode check in/out is supported. Manage loans feature let you know who has what. There is a very simple check out feature. Search by title, author, and category is supported.

Multiple libraries: Our software supports multiple-libraries management. If it's possible I rather suggest to manage all items in one database, you can assign one data field to enter item type (Toy, Book, Movie, ...), it's easier to manage data and process check outs, review outstanding items. In the case of two libraries you will have "to double" some procedures.

Switching computers: Transfer of data from one computer to another is very simple:
- run backup procedure
- move backup file to a new computer (you can email as attachment or use memory stick)

We have a small school library with many older books that do not have ISBN numbers. We need a library system that will allow us to print out barcodes for our books, scan to check out or return and keeps a record of who has what with reminders about overdue or lost books. Is this program mainly software that is downloaded to my computer and not really web based / open source. I think it would be fine if it is not, since it would be for a small school. Also, does it import information from Wordcat or Amazon via isbn if I wanted to add items to my collection?
