How OPAC computer connects to the computer with the database? Would I have the ability to do MARC cataloguing? Is the purchase of the software a one time?

I am representing a small library that is interested in automating their library collection. We are considering the free trial option and might start it on July 9. I have several questions to begin. The library would be set up with a work station in the librarian's office and an OPAC computer in the library.
The IT person would like to know how the OPAC computer connects to the computer with the database.
The library is basically a research library for Roman Catholic priests. Many of the books in the collection were printed before Library of Congress and ISBN numbers were invented. As a cataloger, would I have the ability to do MARC record cataloging for those titles that are not in the database?
Is the purchase of the software a one time event and is there a yearly fee? The software will be used to generate an online card catalog. We do not need barcodes or circulation access. The clientele is less than 50 persons.
The collection contains are large selection of music CD's and DVD's. Do titles for these type of items exist in the database? With the small amount of information I have provided, do you believe your software program would work for our library?

The software offers desktop OPAC and WEB OPAC modules. Both modules are installed automatically with the application. If you want to access desktop OPAC module from another computer you need network installation.

Review also computer requirements for the WEB OPAC.

Our software does not support MARC complex cataloguing rules.

There is one time payment for the software.
