Question:
We have a standalone library computer for our HOA and would like to be able to provide your Handy Library Manager on-line catalogue to all residents at no charge. Is this possible? What requirements do you need for the computer?

Unless your stand-alone computer is a web server you will not be able to provide an online catalog yourself. If you send us a backup of your database we can create a free account for you on our server (you will receive a link to your online catalog).

Question: Is there a way to link the database to the church website so that searches (eg. author, title, subject) can be done online?

The above topic explians how to set library web search.

Question: With Handy is there a way for patrons to access our library catalog online?

Ask you IT personnel if you computer supports running a web application.

Question: I work at a Museum that is researching library database software for our print collection. I see that you offer an OPAC? Can you tell me more about how a library database can be web searchable using your software?

Please review with your IT personnel if your computer supports: the computer needs a static IP address and supports access from the web or network computers.

Question: Church Library; Our church has the software installed on a standalone PC. I have been asked by the librarian if it is possible allow church members to access the library catalogue from the web to allow people to look things up at home. It looks like you have some products that might meet our needs but I am not sure by just reading the descriptions which product would be best. I would like to talk to someone who to steer us in the right direction. Church has a dedicated server but the library software currently runs on a standalone machine.

If the library system is installed on the dedicated server it will support our Web Search feature. Church members will have access to the library catalogue from the web at home.

Question: How to provide free Library Catalogue Web Search. Please let me know the additional charges for this service.

There is not extra cost for the web search.

Your documentation says that the Desktop Search is accessible to patrons without accessing the library admin module. Does that mean patrons can access the desktop search via a link if the HLM application is installed on a network server?

Question: We are a quilting guild with a small library for members. We currently have Handy Library Manager on a laptop, single user licence, and would like to offer a web search of our catlogue to members. I understand you offer a free service hosting the catalogue.

Could I have a bit more information please, including how often the catalogue can be updated? I gather you need a backup copy of our database to load. Are there any particular fields we must be using to allow the catalogue to be searched?

Answer: The offer is not entirely free. We offer the hosting of the web search for users who purchased our technical support ($59.95/year). Yes, we need a backup file of your library to set up the web search.

Question: Small church library , for a single license, is there web access for multiple users?

Answer: The single version comes with the web app (web service application) that support the web search. You need a Windows web server computer to take advantage of this feature.

Question: I work at the Pharmacy Museum and we've been using Handy Library manager 2.5. When we purchased it I was told that if we wanted to one day make the catalog an OPAC, that y'all could possibly host it on your server. Is that still an option? We'd like to make our catalog searchable online in early 2022, if possible. Also, do we need to upgrade to the new version?

Answer: Yes, we offer a web OPAC. We need a backup file from your Handy Library. Our web application is using the latest version. We ask users to upgrade the software to the newest version. Hosting is offered for users who purchased our yearly support.

Question: You state that, "We provide free service, if you don't have a web server, we can host your library catalogue data on our web computer. Please contact us for further instructions."
We do not have a web server and are very interested in the potential for our members to be able to search our database from their homes. Which part of the service you provide is free? What is the cost of hosting our library catalogue data on your web computer?

Answer: The service is free for users who purchased our yearly support. It is only $59.95 per year. We will define the web search on our server that you can share with library users. Once per month, you can send us a backup file of your library database, and we will use it to update your library web search.

Question: We are interested in this service. We do not have a web server but would like our users to be able to search our catalogue from home. Would it be possible to test this during our trial period?

Answer: We do not offer a web search for users who evaluate our library software. Instead, we provide the web search link from a library using this service.
