Handy Library Main Window: Web Search Testing

In this section, we will demonstrate how to create a web search using a cloud-based system. For this example, we chose to use Caspio.

We set up a free account that included a library table and a basic search feature. Caspio enables users to create custom database applications in the cloud. With our free account, we were able to develop an online library search.

Additionally, you can export data from Handy Library to a text file in a TAB-delimited format. The following data fields were included in the text file: TITLE, AUTHOR, TYPE, COAUTHORS, PUBLISHER, PUBLISHED, PLACE, SERIES, EDITION, PHYSICAL, DEWEY, ISBN, SUBJECTS, NOTES, CUSTOM1, BARCODE, and CALL NUMBER. This text file allowed us to create a simple table within the cloud system.

You can review the search options listed below. Please note that with free services, there may be limitations, such as the inability to remove the Caspio logo from the search page.

There are three methods to implement a web search:
1. Include a link that displays the search page.
2. Insert a form with the script directly on your page.
3. Embed a frame that contains the search functionality.

1. include a link that displays the search page (click on the link to test):

2. insert form with the script on your page (enter search string and click Search):
