Things to know before you import.

LIBRARY_NEW table

Use this table in the following situations: import data from excel/text files, add data from MARC files (mnemonic text form), auto-catalogue from the web. If something goes wrong use Miscellaneous /Delete All Items command. If items are ready for circulation move them to main library catalogue.

Only one data field is required when you import your library data into Handy Library Manager. It is a TITLE data field, and the value cannot be empty.

BORROWERS_NEW table

Use this table in the following situations: import data from excel/text files. If something goes wrong use Miscellaneous/Delete All Items command.

Only one data field is required when you import your library borrower data into Handy Library Manager. It is a NAME data field, and the value cannot be empty.

Review tables below

use only data fields with YES status, other data fields are reserved by the program
verify data formats (DATE, NUMBER, TEXT are allowed)
set you barcode format before you import and move your data to main library catalog (check in/out options)
if you import data from Web or MARC files, verify marc mapping

DATE : date should be in your Window's short date format, example MM/DD/YYYY (01/22/2017):

NUMBER : number data should be in the following form: 12.22, 12, 2.02

TEXT : text data is used by all other data fields that are not DATE or NUMBER type

*B : if you don't import barcode number the program will create them automatically when data from the LIBRARY_NEW table is moved to LIBRARY main table, the same will happen with BORROWERS_NEW and BORROWERS main tables. New barocde numbers will be created according to the setup in the Options/Check In-Out/Barcode Options.
