Dewey Decimal Classification System

The Dewey Decimal Classification System is a method of classifying books in the library. There are: ten major classes, each has ten divisions, followed by ten sections. Each descriptive textual classification is represented by a number or combination of numbers separated by a dot. Eventually, numbered classification is easily printed on the spine label, and books are grouped by numbers and placed on the shelf in numerical orders.

The Dewey system is implemented by many libraries. The system is very popular but it does not mean that you should use it. In the case of small libraries unique, simple systems are implemented.

You can review Dewey Classification System and build your own. Review lists and build your classification, category, or subject values. For example you can open and edit any list in the text editor program (Windows Notepad). Final lists you can import to library data fields (CATEGORY, SUBJECT, DEWEY, or field of your choice).

You can use Dewey number and the first three letters of the author’s last name in the CALL number. You can place your books on the shelf using the CALL value. Our program offers many predefined spine labels that use CALL data field.
