How to align labels when printing from PDF document?

There's an issue with the alignment of your labels when printing from your PDF software, such as Adobe Reader or Foxit. You should check if the PDF software is attempting to scale the printed document. To do this, please review the images and try turning off any page scaling, fit-to-page, or page margin options. Print a test page on regular paper before printing all your labels, and then compare it with your label page to ensure everything is correct.

Light Test for Label Alignment:

  1. Print a Test Page: Print your labels on plain white paper.
  2. Layer the Sheets: Place the printed paper behind a blank Avery label sheet.
  3. Check Alignment: Hold them up to a bright light to see how the printed text aligns with the label edges.

Acrobat PDF Reader

  • To print a test page, select Pages (1) and enter 1.
  • Ensure that Actual Size (2) and Choose paper source by PDF page size (3) are set.
  • Verify that the correct page size (4) is set to Letter or 8.5 x 11 inches.
  • Print one page and test the alignment with the label sheet.

Foxit Reader

For Foxit Reader, set the Scale option to None and select Choose paper source by PDF page size. This should resolve any alignment issues.

Google Chrome PDF Viewer

  • Open MS File Explorer, find the PDF file containing your labels.
  • Right-click on the file, select Open, and then choose Google Chrome.
  • Once the PDF file opens in Google Chrome, click the Print icon.
  • In the Print dialog, select More Settings.
  • In the Pages section (1), choose Custom and enter 1 to print one test page.
  • Set paper size to Letter (2). For the scale (3), select Default.
  • These settings worked well with our HP LaserJet 1018 printer. Make sure to print on a regular sheet of paper to avoid wasting a label sheet.

I printed off the labels from your PDF file on 5160 Avery labels, ... they don't line up properly. How can I re-adjust them so I can make them fit?

The barcode labels that you created for us for our books seem to be getting cut off when printing them on the Avery 5160 labels. How to align them?

Review the printing options. Uncheck any settings for "page scaling" or "fit to page." Avoid using page margins.
